Huey Paul Chevalon, age 78, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at his residence. Born on February 10, 1946, in New Iberia, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Etienne "Jun" Chevalon, Jr. and Evelie Bourque Chevalon.
Huey was a man known for his dedication to his family and his unwavering work ethic. He spent many years as the owner and operator of Queen City Plumbing, Heating and A/C, Inc., a business he was proud to build and run. In addition, he retired after more than 30 years of service as a bus driver with the Iberia Parish School Board.
Outside of his professional life, Huey had a variety of passions. He fondly remembered his time spent racing horses with his father and scuba diving with his wife, pastimes that brought him joy and camaraderie. He shared a love of adventure and the outdoors, often enjoying hunting and drag racing. A fan of sports, Huey was an avid follower of the New Orleans Saints.
Huey’s greatest love was for his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.
He will be remembered for the special bond he shared with his beloved dog, Charlie Pug.
Those left behind to share his memory are his beloved wife of 58 years, Vicki Dugas Chevalon; two daughters, Michelle Chevalon Bonin and husband Jared and Stephanie Chevalon Dogay and husband Henry; two grandchildren, Brandon Bergeron and wife Guro Heggen Bergeron and Hayley Bergeron Smith and husband Cody; one brother, Etienne “Brush” Chevalon, III and wife Jody and three sisters, Susan Edwards; Sandra LeBlanc and Arlene Stein and husband James.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son-in-law, Barron Bergeron.
A memorial visitation celebrating his life will be held on Friday, January 24, 2025, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Burial will be held privately at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Miles Perret Center and/or The Alzheimers Association.
