Irene LeBlanc Dugas

NEW IBERIA –A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Irene LeBlanc Dugas, age 97, at 10:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2021 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Nathan Comeaux will serve as the celebrant for the service. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church from 8:30 am until time of service.

Mrs. Dugas was born on July 5, 1924 in Iberia Parish to the late Etis and Eleda Delcambre LeBlanc. She passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Belle Teche Nursing Home.

She is survived by her daughter, June Hebert Gachassin of New Iberia; her step daughter, Jodie Dugas McHugh and husband David of Loreauville; five grandchildren, Carla Dugas, Todd Gachassin, Richard Gachassin, Rod McHugh and Christina McHugh; eight great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Dalton Hebert; her second husband, Leonard Dugas and two sisters, Ruby Barras and Odette Labit.

Members of the family will serve as pallbearers.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Belle Teche Nursing Home for the care, love and support shown to Mrs. Irene over the last seven years.

June, so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I will always remember her cooking meat with tomato gravy and we would walk to your house for lunch. It was so good and I wish I could cook the way she did. She was such a sweet person and I know she will be missed . God will comfort you with all the Great Memories!
I regret that I will be unable to attend her services because of Dr.'s appointments.
