Mrs. Migues, better known as “Jackie”, was born in New Iberia, on September 9, 1929 to her parents, the late Romelus Viator and the late Eulice Migues Viator. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Gerald Henry Migues.
Mrs. Migues graduated from New Iberia High School in 1948. She was married to Mr. Migues on February 1, 1951. She was thought of as a loving and caring wife and mother. Mrs. Migues loved New Iberia and would never have considered living anywhere else.
She worked briefly at State National Bank before marrying and becoming a homemaker. Mrs. Migues was also a member of the local Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was devoted to her ministry work. All that came into contact with her, either socially or through business, would shortly come to know her strong belief in the importance of learning about Jehovah God and His Promised Kingdom through his son, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Migues was also well known by friends and family to be an excellent “Cajun” cook and accomplished seamstress. Her young daughters were described by her as her “dolls” that she loved to sew fashions for as they were growing up. She and her husband took their family on countless camping trips and vacations as their daughters were growing up. Upon Mr. Migues’s retirement from Central Louisiana Electric Company (CLECO), they began to run a small cattle ranch on the Avery Island Road until their health would no longer allow them to continue the ranch.
She is survived by her three daughters: Cheryl Migues LeCompte and her husband, Mark LeCompte; Gwendolyn Migues; and Lyndal Migues Boyer and her husband, Bart Boyer. She also leaves behind her grandchildren: Ryan LeCompte and his wife, Misty; Cinnamon Schousboe Prather and her husband, Corey; Ian Boyer and his wife, Kacey; Jordan Boyer Broussard and her husband, Brandon, as well as six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Kenward Viator of Baton Rouge and his wife, Rosemarie.
Family and friends are invited to gather at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1401 Marjie Street, New Iberia, Louisiana on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at 6:00 p.m. A memorial service will be conducted at that time by Brother Gary McGlasson of the local Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Kingdom Hall will be open at 4:00 p.m. to receive family and friends. As Mrs. Migues had chosen cremation, private graveside services will be held at a later date.
