James Allen "Jimmy" Comeaux, age 87, of New Iberia, Louisiana, passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023. Born in New Iberia to Elia Gary Comeaux and Semar Comeaux, James was better known as Jimmy by his family and friends.
Jimmy served in the army and was active duty military, stationed in San Juan, Puerto Rico, during the Korean Conflict. Barbara and the girls laughed remembering how Jimmy wanted Barbara to go meet him in Puerto Rico. Barbara told him, “I’m from Lydia. Jimmy was honorably discharged, having dedicated a portion of his life to serving his country. In 1971, Jimmy began his career at Perry Burke Concrete, later retiring from Baldwin Redimix.
Outside of his professional life, Jimmy found joy in simple pleasures. He loved embarking on camping trips with his family, testing his luck at the casino, and dancing to the lively tunes of swamp pop and French music. His zest for life and charismatic spirit endeared him to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
