It is with great sorrow that the Phillips family announces the passing of Janis Bradford Phillips, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy was her family. She passed away on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at the age of 80.
Janis was born on January 20, 1946, to the late Harley and Lelia Braford in New Iberia, LA.
She was a woman of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith, and she leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love that will continue through the generations.
Janis was deeply involved with First Methodist Church in New Iberia, where she devoted countless hours to serving her church family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether volunteering, cooking, or preparing and serving meals. Her warm hospitality and generous spirit made everyone around her feel welcomed, cared for, and loved. Her faith was not simply something she practiced—it was something she lived each day through her service to others.
Above all, Janis cherished her family. She treasured the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in watching her family grow. Her love, wisdom, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Janis will be remembered for her caring heart, her devotion to her family, her love for her church, and the many quiet ways she made a difference in the lives of others. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of faith, love, and service will live on in the family and church community she held so dear.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Tressie Coco and husband Lyn; two grandsons, Chaise Coco and Samantha and Cole Coco and Amber; eight great grandchildren, Paisleigh Coco, Kolten Coco, Kyler Coco, Adalee Coco, Carter Guillory, Camille Cartez, Ronney Sanders, III and Brinsleigh Owens and one sister, Karen Tucker.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Hardy Phillips; one son, Stacey J. “Flash” Phillips and one sister, Marlene Villermin.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Holy Family Cemetery. Pastor Xavier Torres will officiate.
