Johnny Hebert

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Johnny Hebert, age 72, at 10:00 am Friday, November 5, 2010 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Mark Derise will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Mausoleum in Patoutville.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Friday from 8:00 am until 9:30 am.

A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mr. Hebert passed away Wednesday, November 03, 2010 at Iberia Medical Center.

Mr. Hebert was a lifelong carpenter, furniture maker, and cabinet builder. He was a humble and generous man, having built furniture for family and friends, and lending a helping hand when needed. But it was his family that meant most to him. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother and friend, and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Harriet Hebert of New Iberia; six children, Juanita Boudreaux of New Iberia, Andy Hebert of New Iberia, Bonnie St. Germain of Breaux Bridge, Ty Hebert of Loreauville, Lucy Langla and husband Allen of New Iberia, and Liz White and husband Keith of New Iberia; daughter-in-law, Sally Lanza; 22 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and his sisters and brother, Earline Duhon, Inez Bouillion and Allen Hebert all of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by parents, Didier Hebert and Levie Romero Hebert; his son, Timothy C. Hebert; three grandchildren, Jamie Lynn Hebert, Shane Michael Hebert and Emily Raegan White; and a brother, Vernice Hebert.

Serving as pallbearers will be Keith White, Allen Langla, Nicholas Hebert, Brett Hebert, Joshua St. Germain, and David Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be his sons, Ty and Andy Hebert.
