Born on July 15, 1945, in New Iberia to the late Sidney Bernard Landry, Sr. and Marie Odelia Deroche Landry. Calvin lived a life defined by love, faith, and service. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know him. His kind heart, gentle spirit, and ever-present smile were the hallmarks of a man who went above and beyond to help anyone in need.
A devout Catholic, Calvin was a dedicated parishioner of St. Nicholas Catholic Church who prayed the rosary daily. He was a proud 4th Degree Knight of Columbus at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where his faith was the cornerstone of his life and legacy.
Calvin’s work ethic was unmatched. He was a valued employee at Whitaker Metals until the 1980s, later continuing his career with J&L, Honiron, and Cameco, and eventually finding fulfillment working with a local sugar cane farmer. No matter the job, he gave his all with integrity and pride.
He had a lifelong passion for agriculture, especially raising and showing livestock through the 4-H program—a tradition he lovingly passed on to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His legacy will live on through the generations who carry on his love for livestock and community.
An avid gardener, Calvin was known as the “cucumber and tomato man,” delighting in planting, harvesting, and generously sharing his fresh vegetables with family and friends. In his younger years, he never missed the opening of shrimping season, forming a memorable team with his beloved boat, Shrimp Fever.
Though his final journey was marked by suffering, Calvin was surrounded by the warmth and love of his family and friends. The time shared with him was a cherished gift, and his passing leaves a legacy of unwavering love, generosity, and devotion.
He was the heart of his family, and while he may be gone from our sight, he will never be absent from our hearts.
Rest in peace, PePaw. Your love lives on in all of us.
