January 8, 2023….as the sun was to rise on another of God’s beautiful days, our sweet Juliette Dubois closed her eyes to this earthly life, and entered into eternal peace and rest. At her passing she was 80.
Juliette was born April 15, 1942 in Church Point to the late Leo Castille and the late Claida Fruge’ Castille and was one of four children born to that union. As a child, she was raised in Sunset and later in Eunice where she graduated from St. Edmond Catholic School. She came to meet who would be the man of her dreams and husband on a blind date. Lenny shared that his friend wanted to introduce him to some girls from Eunice, and when Lenny saw Juliette, he knew he wanted to get to know her better. A few dates eventually led to a beautiful marriage of 54 years. “A true love story” as Lenny said.
Early on, Juliette worked for SLEMCO. But after having their son Duncan, she quit her job to care for her family. In that time, she saw a need to help mother’s needing child care. And one day she offered to babysit a friend’s child who needed special care, which blossomed into a child care business in her home for over 18 years. Juliette has watched the children she cared for as babies, grow up to have families of their own and it brought her great joy to see them.
Outside of her work, Juliette loved spending time with her family and friends. She and Lenny loved their Saturday night dinner date at one of her favorite restaurants, Tampico’s. And her granddaughters remembered their shopping trips and pedicures, and their grandmother’s weekly Friday lunch with her dear friend Mildred, often going to Duffy’s and sitting in their usual booth. She also had some memorable trips with Lenny on his Navy reunions. No matter the destination, Juliette had the best of times visiting with Lenny’s Navy buddies and their families. Juliette centered herself with family and friends. It was what brought her so much joy.
We mourn her passing, but rejoice in knowing that she has everlasting peace and rest and know that we will be reunited with her again one day. Rest well Juliette. We love you.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Lenny Mark Dubois; her son, Duncan Dubois and wife Melanie; her granddaughters whom she loved dearly and was very proud of, Elizabeth “Libby” Dubois and Caroline Dubois; her sister Mercedes Dupre’; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss her dearly.
