June Richard Stein

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. June Richard Stein, age 81, at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2013, at Nativity of our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Edward Duhon officiating. Interment will follow at the church mausoleum.

A resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Stein passed away at 6:15 am on Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at her residence.

Mrs. Stein and her husband were the owners and operators of Stein’s Suprette in New Iberia for many years until their retirement in 1985. She enjoyed watching old classic movies, particularly Westerns, playing cards with friends, traveling with friends but above everything, she loved spending time with her family who was her world. Mrs. Stein was well known for her endless positive spirit, wit and sense of humor. She had a special dog, Sammy and African Grey Parrot, Big Bird.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Dawn Hebert, for providing excellent care, to Brenda Robicheaux who selflessly gave of herself and stayed at June’s side for the last five days of her life and to Hospice Compassus, Acadian Home Care and Dr. Patrick Shawn Bacquet.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacy Bustamante and husband Jerry of New Iberia; sons, Chris Matthew Stein of New Iberia, Rick Daniel of Denham Springs; grandchildren, Genee Monte, Brandon Monte, Brennan Monte, Krystina Stein, Julie Daniel; two great-grandchildren and cousins, Lorraine Colette and Cheryl Levy.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hardy Stein; parents, Albert Richard, Mary Bruno Richard; aunts, Lena B. Daniel, Sandy Quegroy, Anna Newchurch and uncle, J.S. Daniel.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Monte, Brennan Monte, Rick Daniel and Jerry Bustamante.
