Karyn was born on June 5, 1961, to Terrell Darby and Dossie Desormeaux Darby. She passed away peacefully at her residence in New Iberia on Saturday, October 10, 2026.
Karyn devoted 17 years of her life to Drug Emporium, where she worked as a manager. More than anything, however, Karyn lived for her family. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her, and there was nothing she loved more than spending time with the people she held closest to her heart.
Karyn had a wonderful spirit and truly enjoyed life. She loved singing, spending time with her friends, and enjoying a lemon drop or two in good company. She also had a love for gardening and a special passion for flowers and plants. Her creativity could often be seen in the beautiful wreaths she enjoyed making. Karyn will be remembered as an all-around wonderful person and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her companion, Ardie Cesario; her mother, Dossie Desormeaux Darby; her three children, Brandon Darby and his wife Jennie, Nicholas Barrilleaux and his fiancée’ Amy, and Mattie Barrilleaux; her sister, Susan Hale; her brothers, Michael Chad Darby and his wife Marinette, and Mitchell Darby and his wife Aimee; her six grandchildren, Hunter Darby and Kadance McClean, Hailey Rogers and her husband Dylan, Fisher Darby and Brianna Troyer, Noah Barrilleaux, Lyla Barrilleaux, and Finn Barrilleaux; and her four great-grandchildren, Hope Rogers, Brooks Rogers, Kooper Darby, and Haven Rogers. She also leaves behind to cherish her memory, nieces and nephews, Ashley Padilla, Devynne Diaz, Sarah Darby, Seth Darby, Grant Darby, and Emilee Darby.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Perri Curro; her father, Terrell Darby; her nephew, Garrett Hale; and her brother-in-law, David Mark Hale.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care, comfort, and support provided to Karyn during her final days. They would also like to express their sincere appreciation to Karyn’s sister, Susan Hale, and Denise Theriot for their loving care, kindness, and devotion to Karyn during this time.
Family and friends are encouraged to share their memories and condolences with the Curro family by visiting Karyn's memorial at www.evangelinenewiberia.com.
