LOREAUVILLE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Katherine Meredith Viator, age 66, at 11:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Loreauville. Fr. Buddy Breaux will be the celebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home of New Iberia on Monday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 10:30 am.

Katherine was born in Bainbridge, Georgia on December 9, 1946 to the late James Meredith and Emma Jean Page Breaux. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at her residence with her family at her side.

Katherine was retired from the State of Louisiana, Office of Child Services. In the past, she was a substitute teacher at both North Lewis Elementary and Catholic High. She had a passion for horses and was a past member of the Louisiana Quarter Horse Association. But it was her family that meant most to her. She leaves behind many fond memories that will forever be cherished by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her husband of 43 years, Stephen Viator of New Iberia; her children, Dr. Andre Viator of Lafayette, and Wanda Milleman of New Iberia; two grandchildren, Bradley Milleman and Brandy Milleman; and her brother, John Breaux of New Orleans.

Memorial contributions may be made in Katherine’s name to the American Cancer Society in your area.
