She was born on October 31, 1951 in Loreauville to Ellen Greer Gondron and Sidney Gondron and was one of six children. Kathleen was an exceptionally gifted student. She attended USL and excelled academically, graduating as valedictorian of her class and receiving a bachelor’s degree. Kathleen’s brilliance shone not only in her academic achievements but also in the way she loved and nurtured her family. She married Michael, the love of her life, in 1989 and dedicated herself to creating a warm and loving home where her family always found comfort. In addition to her love for her family, Kathleen had a passion for music, photography, knitting and sewing.
Kathleen’s legacy will live on through her family and the memories she created with them. She will forever be remembered for her intelligence, her love, and her creative spirit. Her presence in our lives will be deeply missed, but her love and beautiful memories she leaves behind will remain in our hearts always.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael Guillot; step-daughter Francine Guillot; brother, Walter Gondron (Kathy); sisters, Margaret Melancon, Mary Elizabeth Trahan (Kenneth), Mildred Comeaux (Mark), and Joan Gondron (Paul Herman); and step-grandchild, Dustin Menard.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her father Sidney Gondron and her mother Ellen Greer Gondron.
A funeral service will be conducted for Kathleen at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 29, 2023 at Evangeline Funeral Home in New Iberia. Deacon Keith Duhon will officiate. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will take place at the funeral home on Friday. September 29, 2023 from 9:00 am until the service time. A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am.
Serving as pallbearers are Walter Gondron, Mathew Comeaux, Marshall Comeaux, Mitchell Melancon, McKenzie Melancon, Tyson Trahan and Dustin Menard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Trahan, Mark Comeaux, and Paul Herman.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana and the staff of Maison Teche Nursing Home for their kindness, care, and dedication to Kathleen during her final days.
