NEW IBERIA – A visitation will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home for Leon “L.E.” Eli Thibodeaux, age 28, on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm by the Men’s Rosary Group. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

A native of Franklin and resident of Morgan City, Leon passed away on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City.

Born on January 3, 1991 to Judy Bodin Thibodeaux and the late Ernest Rex Thibodeaux, Leon was one of 2 children. Leon, better known as “L.E”, was a gentle and loving soul who enjoyed the simple life of country living. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved every second spent outside hunting and fishing. Leon could often be found fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin or deer hunting with friends. He was a caring person who was always there to help those in need, even if that meant pulling a friend out of the mud at 2:00 in the morning. Leon loved being surrounded by family and friends and especially spending time with his children, Lane Eli, Rex Leon, and Jaidyn Victoria. At the end of the day, all Leon ever wanted was to sit around the campfire surrounded by family and friends with country music playing on the radio. He will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, English Comeaux Thibodeaux; sons, Lane Eli Thibodeaux and Rex Leon Thibodeaux; step-daughter, Jaidyn Victoria Steele; mother, Judy Thibodeaux and fiancé Dale LeBlanc; sister, Lauren Clair Thibodeaux; and aunts and uncles, Mark and Connie Bodin, Terry Bodin, Jackie Boutte, Susan and T.C. Gotcher, Karen Bodin, Bobby and Sandy Cobb, Denise and Jake Papillion, Karen Thibodeaux, Lee Thibodeaux, Rex Allen Thibodeaux, and David Thibodeaux.

He is preceded in death by his father, Ernest Rex Thibodeaux; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Bodin and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Thibodeaux; and uncle, Dallas “Buddy” Bodin, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.

He said dude get your ass to my house or I’m gonna come get you. He got me through that rough time I was going threw. He was definitely a friend to all and always the life of the party. My prayers go out to the family and friends. I’m honored to have called L.E. A friend of mine

I cannot express how sorry I am for your loss Mrs. Judy and Lauren as well as to the family. Growing up I was surrounded by great people. The awesomeness in being introduced to you all. An extended family you would say. Mrs. Judy you raised a wonderful boy into a great man. The past year and a half I was able to reconnect with LE through his travels of stopping into Black Kettle to grab his regular item. Pepper jack Boudin Balls. I would always hook my ole buddy up and we would visit for awhile. Remeninace of the old times of 4H and how great those times used to be and of life as it is now. I will miss his visits and our talks. Always had that smile, talking mouth full, while he chopped down from his excitedness of a boudin ball. I would crack up. Never seen someone so excited over a ball like him. He will never be forgotten. I love you guys.

Judy, Lauren, and family,
There are no words that I could say that would come close to easing your pain at this moment. Although I did not get to know LE as an adult,
I remember the cute, sweet little boy so well. What I remember most is the pride and love you had being a "new Mom". LE and Lauren are your pride and joy.
I pray that in time your memories will help to ease the pain and grief you have today. Lean on family and friends. LE will always be in your heart and just a thought away.
If you look up into the night sky, you will notice there will be one star brightly twinkling at you as if sharing a secret with you.
I believe that when we take our last breath on Earth, we take our first breath in Heaven. I know that his dad Rex, Pop, Granny, Buddy, and Ramsey were there to welcome him home. What a reunion that must have been!

Love you all,
Tammy
