It is with heavy hearts and deep love that the Good family announces the passing of Linda Romero Good, our beloved matriarch and the heart of our family. Linda passed away unexpectedly on August 13, 2026, at Iberia Medical Center. She was 72 years old.
Linda was born February 11, 1954, in Lafayette to the late Junius “Neg” Romero and Effie Duhon Romero. She was one of six children born to their union.
To know Linda was to know a kindhearted woman who was also feisty, strong-willed, and full of love for her family. She lived a simple and meaningful life, finding joy in the things and people closest to home. She enjoyed many cruises with her sisters, but some of her happiest moments were spent right at home. Linda loved her flowers, although, as Robert would jokingly say, she was not always the best at keeping them alive.
Linda also enjoyed visiting with family and friends, Bingo outings, and her Pokeno club with her dearest friends. She loved going out to eat, especially at her favorite place, Bojangles.
Above all else, Linda treasured her family. She cherished morning coffee with her sister Connie, long talks with her sister Brenda, and every opportunity to spend time with her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were truly her world. Her love for them was unconditional, and the memories they made together will remain a treasured part of their lives.
Although Linda will be missed beyond words, her family will carry her memory close to their hearts and thoughts always. When the sun shines brightly on a beautiful day, they will remember her beautiful smile and feel her presence near. Their faith gives them comfort in knowing that one day they will be reunited with Linda and all those who have gone before her.
Until that day, may she rest peacefully. We love you.
Those left to cherish Linda’s memory are her sons, Clayton Good and Robert Good and wife, Monique; her grandchildren, Hali Belaire and husband, Shawn, Drew Derouen and wife, Courtland, Allyce Good, Kaleb Good, Brelan Good, and Barrett Good; six great-grandchildren, Cohen Belaire, Quinnie Belaire, Parker Belaire, Presley Derouen, Phynleigh Derouen, and Madilyn Good; her siblings, Leroy Romero and wife, Brenda, Douglas Romero and wife, Melba, Brenda Choate and husband, John, and Connie Chataignier and husband, Jude; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her dearly.
Linda was preceded in death by her infant son, Lelan Good; her beloved husband, Lelan “Smokey” Good; her parents, Junius “Neg” and Effie Romero; and her brother, Michael James Romero.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The Men’s Rosary Group will lead the Rosary at 11:00 a.m. The gathering will continue until the 2:00 p.m. dismissal to Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, where Linda will be laid to rest.
