During her life in New Iberia, she worked at Abdalla's Department Store and JCPenney Catalog Store for many years. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church, where she worked with the prayer ministry. Later, she moved to Westside Baptist Church, where she served as a member and the pastor's wife. Linda loved people; she never met a stranger. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Linda was a family type of person.
Linda loved the United States of America and celebrating all of the holidays. She wanted all Americans to be proud to be in America.
She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Joseph Tracy King; her daughters, Renae Bourgeois (Jay) and Katina (Tina) Maria Carroll (Roy); and one son, Joseph (Joe) Tracy King, Jr. (Mary Anne).
Her grandchildren are Whitney (Bourgeois) Donovan (Luke), Lindsey Bourgeois, Sydney Bourgeois, Caleb King (Stephanie), Emily (Bernard) Picard (Chase), Colton Carroll, Taylor King, Shelbi King, and Alex King (Madie).
Her great-grandchildren are Audrey King, Demi King, Josie King, Jackson King, Logan King, Hallie Franks, Gavin Picard, Charli Picard, Waylon Donovan, and Henry (Hank) Donovan (expected in November 2026).
She is also survived by one sister, Polly (Weeks) Longnecker, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Griffin and Willie Merle (Griffin) Weeks; one sister, Judy (Griffin) Weeks; and one grandson, Joshua Paul Bernard.
A gathering of family and friends will take place for Mrs. Linda on Monday, August 24, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at Westside Baptist Church in New Iberia.
Funeral services will be conducted for her at the church at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Gerin Maples will officiate with Marcus Olivier reading the obituary and Rev. Chris Jeffus overseeing the graveside.
She will be interred at Beau Pre Memorial Park immediately following the services.
Pallbearers will be Caleb King, Alex King, Colton Carroll, Chase Picard, Luke Donovan, and Terry Pool. Honorary Pallbearer will be Gavin Picard.
The family kindly asks that friends and family wear red, white, and blue in honor of Mrs. King's love for America.
