It is with heavy hearts and deep love that the Comeaux Family announces the passing of Linda Sue Crowder Comeaux, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and dear friend. Linda gently closed her eyes to this earthly life on Thursday, August 27, 2026, and entered into her eternal glory. She was 77.
Linda Sue was born in New Iberia to the late Jack Crowder and the late Thelma Trahan Romero. She was raised in a family steeped in Cajun heritage, where she was instilled with the importance of faith, family, and love for others.
Linda was a homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family and making memories together. In her earlier years, she was a talented florist and operated her own shop, Beau Fleur, on Avery Island Road. She enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements for family and friends and was always happy to lend her talents when someone needed her help.
Linda also had a big heart for animals and would do whatever she could to help provide for them. Among her favorite pastimes were trips to the casino and camping. Linda and her beloved husband, Albert, spent many weekends in Grand Isle and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, camping in some of the most beautiful and peaceful destinations along the way. Those adventures created treasured memories that her family will carry with them forever.
But Linda's greatest love of all was her family. She was at her best when surrounded by her children, grandchildren, and loved ones. Visiting with her family brought a special joy to Linda. Not only did her face light up with a smile, but her heart was smiling, too, from the love shared among them. Her sweet smile, gentle spirit, and loving presence will be deeply missed, but the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Linda, may your soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Those left to cherish Linda's memory are her son, Chad D. Comeaux; her grandchildren, Gerald Poirrier (Kody), Rusty Cooper (Amanda), Shonda Garrett (Oliver), Faith Guillot (Gunner), Kylin Comeaux, and Brayden Comeaux; nine great-great-grandchildren; her brother, Elmo “Nunu” Romero, Jr.; her sisters, Nancy Mayeaux (Russell), Tina Romero, and Sarah Braus (Charles); her brothers-in-law, Mark Comeaux (Millie) and Larry Comeaux (Patti); and her sister-in-law, Vickie Rowan (Richard).
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert Charles Comeaux; her daughter and son, Rhonda Marie Comeaux David and Brent Charles Comeaux; her parents, Thelma Trahan Romero and Jack Crowder; her stepfather, Elmo Romero, Sr.; her in-laws, Homer and Shirley Comeaux; and her maternal grandparents, Selvia Romero Trahan and John Delphi Trahan.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Linda's life will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Marcellus Catholic Church, with Fr. James Nguyen serving as celebrant. Following Mass, she will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband and children in the church mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with the recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visiting hours will resume Tuesday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 a.m., followed by dismissal to church.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Chad Comeaux, Brayden Comeaux, Gerald Poirrier, Rusty Cooper, Larry Comeaux, and Mark Comeaux. Honorary pallbearers are Rhett Guillot, Kohen Poirrier, Easton Cooper, and Ollie Garrett.
Linda had a generous and loving heart, especially when it came to helping others and caring for animals. In keeping with her compassionate spirit, the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made in Linda's name to Angel Paws Adoption Center, 1314 Troy Road, New Iberia, LA 70563, or Hospice of Acadiana, 2600 Johnston St., Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70503.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Consolata Nursing Home, especially Lashay; the staff of Hospice of Acadiana, especially her nurse Tricia; and the doctors, nurses, and staff of Iberia Medical Center for the kindness and compassionate care shown to Linda.
A very special thank you is extended to Patti and Larry Comeaux for their undying love, devotion, and care shown to Linda. Your love and dedication are deeply appreciated by the family.
