Louis Buteaux Sr.

NEW IBERIA – A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Louis “Pichie” Buteaux, Sr., age 72, at 2:00 pm Saturday, August 24, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Fr. Charles Langlois officiating. Interment will be held at Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Friday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Buteaux passed away at 10:35 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at his residence.

Mr. Buteaux was a loving husband, father and “Paw Paw”. He was employed at Pelican Creamery for 23 years, owner of the Boiling Point for 4 years and a commercial fisherman for over 30 years. He loved playing softball and was one of the first players inducted into the Louisiana Softball Hall of Fame in 2004. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, kids and grandkids. He was loved by many and will be missed greatly.

Mr. Buteaux is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Buteaux of New Iberia; four sons, Louis Buteaux, Jr. and Jenny of New Iberia; Rod Buteaux and Valerie of Rocklin, CA; Todd Buteaux and Rina of Los Angeles, CA and Jonas Buteaux and Sara of Youngsville; three daughters, Michele Harris and Paul of Arlington, TX; Cheri Metcalf and Herman of Sopchoppy, FL and Nicole Buteaux Perez of New Iberia; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren and three sisters, Theresa Louviere, Shirley Vidrine and Mary Ann Buteaux.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Theresa Clement Buteaux; one brother, Gerald Buteaux; one sister, Irene LeMaire; one granddaughter, Chelsey Marie Perez and one grandson, Ryan Louis Perez.

Pallbearers will be Lucas Durocher, Alex Durocher, Beau Buteaux, Dex Buteaux, Blake Prince and Joseph Landry. Roy Poche will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
