Lovelace Bodin

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Lovelace John Bodin, age 77, at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 21, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Mark Derise officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Tuesday and the funeral home will remain open all night. A Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Bodin passed away at 10:55 am on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Belle Teche Nursing Home.

Mr. Bodin served as an usher at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. He also served in the National Guard from 1953 through 1961. Mr. Bodin loved to camp, travel, work in his yard, garden and enjoyed old cars and trains. He was well known as being an exceptional handy man and was always ready to help anyone he could. He was very family oriented and was especially close to his grandchildren. Mr. Bodin will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

He is survived by his sons Kim Bodin and wife Vickie of New Iberia, Blaze Bodin and wife Karen of Erath; daughter, Sybil Trahan and husband Gerald of New Iberia; brothers, Lloys Bodin and wife Wease of Avery Island, Ted Bodin and wife Margie of New Iberia; sister, Vickie Thibodeaux of New Iberia; grandchildren, Christopher Bodin, Kimberly Bodin, Hilary Trahan, Felicia Bridges, Shani Bodin; step grandchildren, Meagan Perkins, Michelle Perkins and great-grandchildren, Abigail Bodin, Caden Bridges, Kale Girouard and Cullen Bridges.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fannie Domingue Bodin; son, Scotty Bodin and parents, Joseph and Amanda Bodin.

Pallbearers will be Christopher Bodin, Julius Hulin, Corey Thibodeaux, Joe Romero, Troy Bodin, Dean Duhon and Zachary Bridges.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kim Bodin, Blaze Bodin, Gerald Trahan and Lloyd Bodin.
