Lynda Scott took her final breath in the early hours of Saturday, February 15, 2026, after a two year fight with liver cancer. She focused her time and energy into the things that brought her joy in life - friends, family, good food, and creating beauty in the world around her.
Lynda was born in Orangenburg, SC, and raised in New Iberia, LA, except for a few years of her childhood living in Argentina. She started her adult life in Florida, but made Houston, TX, her home until her recent return to New Iberia in 2023. No single career could tie Lynda down. She worked as a respiratory therapist, a realtor, a paralegal, an executive assistant in an engineering firm, retail sales, fashion design, and most recently in home design. The common thread in all of her roles was her ability to excel and her sincere and genuine desire to help people, solve problems and make the world a better and more beautiful place.
She made friends everywhere she went and loved nothing more than catching up with them over a shopping trip or a good meal. She loved to experience the flavors and and customs of different cultures. She loved to hear about her friends' lives and travels, taking their stories as a way to expand her experience of the world around her. She also found joy in the little things of life, like taking care of her cats and growing flowers and vegetables in her garden. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her son, David Allen, her brother Walter Scott III (Lynn), her sister-in-law Trisha Ibert, and her nieces and nephews: Jason, Lucas, Leah, Hannah, and Sarah Scott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Scott Jr. and Bettye Johnson Scott, her brother Harry Scott, and her nephew, Robert “Robbie” Scott.
Evangeline Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
