Mr. Arton was born October 5, 1930 in Jeanerette to the late Joseph Arton and the late Philomene Alleman Arton, and passed away peacefully Thursday July 4, 2019 in San Pedro, California. He was 88.
Manuel was raised in a Christian home filled with love for GOD and for others, and that was how he lived his life. To know Manuel was to know a kind and generous man. Although he never had children of his own, he loved babies and the children that he was surrounded by, the many years he spent working in the Catholic school system. His heart was also filled with love for all animals and he had many pets throughout his life, that brought him joy and companionship. And it goes without saying that Manuel loved his family and friends, but above all was his love for GOD and his catholic faith. His hard work and dedication has earned him an eternal reward and he is now with GOD. Rest well Manuel, until we meet again.
Manuel is survived by his niece who he looked upon to care for and assist him, Yvette Arton, his GOD son Frank Fisher, Jr., who was like a son to him; and by a host of nieces and nephews and many more beyond that, as he was honored to be a great, great, great, great, great uncle, and he loved them all equally.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Lawrence, Lester, Leonard, Dennis, Adonise, Lionel, John, Daniel, Ulysse, Laura and Leona.
Family and friends are asked to visit Manuel’s memorial page at www.evangelinenewiberia.com and share memories of him.
