Mark Kevin Gauthier

Memorial services will be celebrated for Mark Kevin Gauthier, age 52, at 7:00 pm on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Evangeline Funeral Home. Deacon Patrick Burke of St. Peter’s Catholic Church will officiate. Interment will be held privately at a later date.

A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until service time, and will continue until 8:00 pm.

Mark was born January 15, 1960 to Dewey and Mary Ellen Barousse Gauthier in New Iberia, and passed away on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at Abbeville General Hospital.

Mark is a veteran of the oilfield industry with 33 years of service. Throughout that time, he has worked with various companies and was most recently a supervisor for Fluid Crane. Prior to that he worked with Blanchard Construction of Broussard.

In his spare time, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, spending time outdoors, fishing, and cooking and sharing meals with his friends. His untimely death is a great loss to the oilfield industry and to all who knew him. He will be deeply missed.

Survivors include his daughter, Meryl Boutte of New Iberia; his father, Dewey Leo Gauthier of New Iberia; his sister and brothers, Mary Beth Gauthier Hammer and husband Glenn of Collierville, TN, David Leo Gauthier and wife Angela of Belle Chase, LA, and Samuel Lawrence Gauthier and wife Cindy of Newport, NH; cousin, Scott Matthew Gauthier of Maurice; his best friend, John Ross Edwards of Kaplan; and his niece and nephew, Emma Gauthier, Joshua Gauthier, Samuel Lawrence Gauthier, II, Will Hammer and Christopher Hammer.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Barousse Gauthier; and his grandparents, Lawrence and Louise Drago Barousse and Dewey and Cleophine Marie Couvillion Gauthier.
