It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Mary Dell Patin Latiolais, age 74. Born on February 21, 1952, in Loreauville to the late Whitney and Lilly May Dugas Patin, she passed away on May 21, 2026, at her residence.
Mary devoted her life to caring for others, both professionally and personally.
Mary spent more than 20 years working as a nurse in the medical field, where her compassion and gentle spirit touched countless lives. She later served as the Activity Director at Heritage Manor for eight years, bringing joy, laughter, and comfort to residents each day. Eventually, she followed the path that brought her the greatest happiness by opening her own daycare, Mary’s Belle’s and Beau’s, which she lovingly operated for many years. The children she cared for meant the world to her, and nothing brightened her smile more than visits from them long after they had grown and graduated.
Mary found peace and joy in the simple beauty of life. She loved spending time outdoors gardening and planting flowers. Gifted with remarkable talent and creativity, she lovingly sewed clothes for her daughters and enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She also loved watching baseball on television, especially Little League games.
Above all else, Mary cherished her family.
Her daughters and granddaughters were the center of her world, and the moments she spent with them were the ones she treasured most deeply. Her love, kindness, strength, and nurturing spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Mary leaves behind a legacy of compassion, creativity, and unconditional love that will continue to live on through her family, friends, and the many lives she touched throughout the years.
She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Landry (Cory) and Sarah Vickery (George) and two granddaughters, Emily Landry and Carly Landry.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Danny Joseph Latiolais and one sister, Brenda Patin.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Evangeline Funeral Home. Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 am until 11:00 am.
Her dear friend Brenda Aucoin will give a eulogy at 10:45, followed by a rosary at 11:00 am. It was Mary Dell’s wishes that Brenda Aucoin, Cory Landry, Emily Landry, Carly Landry and Autumn Moore each pray a decade of the rosary.
She will be laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Loreauville privately at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Miles Perret Cancer Services, 110 Capitol Drive, Lafayette, LA 70508.
The family would like to thank the caring staff of Home Instead and Audubon Hospice for the compassionate care given during her time of need.
