NEW IBERIA – A Massof Christian Burial will be conducted for Mr. Menson Louis Romero, age 89, at 10:00 am Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. Keith Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum with Military Honors by New Iberia Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday with a Rosary at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Thursday until service time.
A native of Youngsville and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Romero passed away at 11:35 pm on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Mr. Romero served his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and Woodmen of the World.
He was a Supervisor for Holsum Bread Co. and retired after 34 years. He was also a school bus driver for Iberia Parish School Board and retired after 15 years of service.
Mr. Romero also served as Secretary/Treasurer of Wac-Lac Co. Inc. of New Iberia for 26 years.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years Marie Delahoussaye Romero; two daughters, Gail Romero Patout and Celeste Romero Viator and husband Darryl all of New Iberia; two grandchildren, Lloyd David Patout, Jr. and wife Allison S. Patout and Chase Michael Viator and wife Emilly D. Viator and two great grandchildren, Layla Danielle Patout and Jayda Claire Patout.
He was preceded in death by his son, Warren Louis Romerol his parents, Ulysse and Norma Romero Romero; one sister, Hazel Romero Romero and one Brother, Willis Romero.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Delahoussaye, Alex James Romero, David Balusek, Cody Domingue, John Domingue and Jarrod Romero. Dennis Romero, Jr. will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
