NEW IBERIA - Michael Wayne Provost, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and dear friend passed away just after 10:00 pm on May 29, 2022, one day before his 74th birthday. With his family at his side, Michael gently closed his eyes to this earthly life and entered into his eternal glory. He was 73.
Michael, better known as Mike to family and friends, was born to the late Audrey Duhon Provost and the late Gilman J. Provost on May 30, 1948 in New Iberia, LA. He was raised by his adoptive parents, Luches J. and Lillian P. Myers from the age of 9, after his mother’s passing. Mike was a kind and loving soul who enjoyed the simple things in life. He was an avid outdoorsman who spent most of his time hunting and fishing. Mike had a passion for sportsmanship that was unrivaled. He could often be found in the air boat hunting in the basin or running off to the camp in Arkansas. He was proud to be a member of several hunting clubs such as the Loreauville, Lucky Buck, and Old Arkla Hunting Clubs.
Michael will also be remembered for his love of chocolate milk and pie. He was always asking for his dessert before dinner was even served!
Above all, Michael loved and cherished his family beyond all measure. He spoiled his grandchildren with love, and he met everyone with kindness and friendship. He now rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior.
