It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Minus "Chippy" Joseph Gisclar II, who departed this world on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the age of 76. Chippy, as he was better known, was born on October 25, 1947, in New Iberia, and was the beloved son of Mildred Segura Gisclar and Minus Joseph Gisclar.
Chippy's life was filled with a passion for horses, and he found immense joy in riding and being around these magnificent creatures. His early years were spent in the company of horses, and as his son, Minus "Joey" Joseph Gisclar III, ventured into horse racing, Chippy dedicated himself to supporting and raising them. He even embraced the thrill of the rodeo for a brief period. However, he is most fondly remembered for his ownership and operation of the Down South Motocross track, a business he established in the 80s that continues to thrive to this day.
A loving father and grandfather, Chippy leaves behind a legacy of warmth and dedication. He is survived by his son Minus "Joey" Joseph Gisclar III (Missy), his daughter Michelle Gisclar Blanchet (Riley), stepson Stan Allen (Amy), sister Penny Gisclar, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Among them, Ty Leleux (Kennedy), Matt Leleux (Rebekah), Levie "Tookie" Guidry (Brennan), Bentley Guidry, Saylor Guidry, Lola Guidry, and Rush Guidry.
Chippy is preceded in death by his father, Minus Joseph Gisclar, and mother, Mildred Segura Gisclar.
