Born on May 30, 1947, in St. Martinville, Olivia was the beloved daughter of the late Husville and Dorothy Babineaux Melancon.
Olivia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and dear friend who came from a very large and close-knit family. Her family was the center of her world, and she devoted her life to caring for and loving those around her. She faced her sickness with remarkable grace, unwavering strength, and deep faith that inspired everyone who knew her.
She took great pride in keeping a warm and tidy home where family and friends always felt welcomed. Olivia especially enjoyed cooking for the people she loved, and her family will forever cherish the memories made around her table. Her delicious crawfish étouffée and infamous rice and gravy dishes were favorites that will be nearly impossible to duplicate.
Olivia also had a special love for flowers and found joy in creating beautiful flower arrangements that reflected her gentle and caring spirit. Her only granddaughter, Lilly, will always treasure the simple but meaningful moments they shared together watching episodes of Judge Judy.
Olivia leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, strength, and devotion to family that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
