A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Dore passed away on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at New Iberia Manor South.
Born on September 29, 1947 to the late Melicour and Elde Delcambre Doré, Phil was one of three children. Phil was a kind, generous and hardworking man who enjoyed the outdoors and spent much of his time hunting and fishing at his camp or riding his motorcycle. As a young man, he joined the United States Armed Forces and was stationed in Vietnam. He proudly served for three years and was honorably discharged.
Phil was inspired by his loving wife and several big names in the beauty industry, one of whom was Paul Mitchell, to pursue a career as a hairdresser. Phil became a world renowned leader in the industry. In 1973, he and Linda established their first salon, A Cut In Time, in New Iberia. The name was changed in 1986 to Doré Doré Salon. Phil traveled the world as a highly sought-after instructor and mentor. He was featured in multiple publications during his career and inspired many to their highest potential. His legacy continues today through the talent and dedication of his son Tod, who now owns and operates Doré Doré Salon's Lafayette location in River Ranch. Phil’s granddaughter, Victoria has recently joined the family business as a third generation hairdresser.
Phil was a true visionary and influenced many who had the honor of knowing him. His passion and zest for life was contagious and his appreciation of beauty and artistry was phenomenal. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many and will be deeply missed. His long journey is complete and his life well-lived.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Barras Dore of Loreauville; son, Tod M. Dore (Sheramie) of Lafayette; grandchildren, Victoria B. Dore and Tod Michael Dore, II; and sister, Nancy Gachassin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Melicour and Elde Delcambre Dore; and brother, Jimmy Dore.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Iberia Manor South and Grace Hospice for their kindness, caring, and support.
