

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mrs. Martinez, the former Pilar Blasco, at 11:30 am Monday, January 24, 2010 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Fr. Gregory Daigle officiating. Interment will follow at Beau Pre Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until service time.
A native of Cuba and resident of New Orleans, Mrs. Martinez passed away at 8:27 am on Wednesday, January 19, 2011 in New Orleans.
Mrs. Martinez was a piano teacher in New Iberia for 35 years. She also belonged to the National Association of Music Teachers and the Louisiana Federation of Music Clubs. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jorge A. Martinez of New Orleans; a son, Jorge G. Martinez of New York City; a daughter, Pillie M. Morrison and husband Dr. David Morrison of New Orleans; grandchildren Celina G. Morrison and Benjamin D. Morrison; a sister, Guadalupe Lamadrid and husband Victor of Baton Rouge; niece, Lupe Lamadrid of Baton Rouge; and nephew Victor Lamadrid and wife Mandy along with their children Javier and Tomas of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Celina and Gorgonio Blasco.
Pallbearers will be J.G. Martinez, David Morrison, Victor Lamadrid, Jr., Benjamin Morrison, Victor Lamadrid, Sr., and Cranston “Doc” Smith.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to Daughter of Charity, Services of New Orleans, P.O. Box 4148, New Orleans, LA 70178.
