Queever Broussard

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Edward C. Broussard, the former Queever Breaux, age 86, at 11:00 am on Friday, May 6, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church. Fr. Mike Arnaud will officiate at the services. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until service time.

A native of Loreauville and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Broussard passed away at 3:15 am on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at her residence.

Mrs. Broussard was a beautician for more than 20 years, she served as a Pink Lady at Dauterive Hospital where she distributed communion to the patients and also did volunteer work at St. Francis Diner. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, whose unique sense of humor was enjoyed by all who knew her. Her love of cooking earned her many awards in cooking contest in New Iberia and surrounding areas. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Broussard is survived by husband Edward C. Broussard of New Iberia; her children, Steven A. Chambers and wife Leta; Scott J. Chambers and wife Connie; Sandy C. Gachassin and Christine C. Hulin and husband William “Bill” all of New Iberia; Joanne B. Mills and husband Jack and Brenda B. LaBorde and husband Pat all of Lafayette and Michael C. Broussard and wife Renea of Gulf Shores, AL. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and two sisters in law, Bert Breaux and Betty Breaux both of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Eve Broussard Breaux; her first husband, Isaac J. Chambers; one grandson, William “Billy” Foster; two brothers, Albert Breaux and Herbin “Nookie” Breaux; one son in law, Richard D. Gachassin and one daughter in law, Marsha D. Chambers.

Pallbearers will be Scott Chambers, Steven A. Chambers, Steven I. Chambers, Jason Foster, Michael Worsham, William Hulin and Denny O’Brien.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Mills, Pat LaBorde, Lance Crpl. USMC Jacy Gary, Josh Trahan, Josh Gachassin & Will Quinlan.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Humane Society, 1314 Troy Road, New Iberia, LA 70563 and/or Hospice Compassus, 302 La Rue France, Suite 200, Lafayette, LA 70508.

The family would like to thank Acadiana Home Care and Hospice Compassus for their excellent care. A special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Sheila Romero, Faye Broussard, Shirley Boutte, Evelyn Smith, Gail Duhon, Cynthia Jefferson and Liz Knight for their care, concern and compassion.
