Renee Viator Decoux

NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Renee Viator Decoux, age 56, at 2:00 pm Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Mario Romero officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Tuesday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Wednesday until service time.

A native and resident of New Iberia, Renee peacefully passed away at 7:00 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.

The sudden death of someone as loved as Renee is hard to grasp, for she was someone we took for granted would be with us much longer. Renee was a stay at home mother to her two sons and to the numerous animals she cared for.

She had a love of Rock-n-Roll and she’d always find time to perform whenever she could. Alongside her immediate family, she also forged lifelong friendships with numerous people as she traveled with her sons in support of their band. Renee was aware that family, given the chance to create together, would build special bonds few people are able to experience.

Renee was a vibrant soul, one who lit up the room whenever she entered. She was an amazing person who adored all and constantly encouraged everyone to follow their passions. She understood the importance of family and even a good home cooked meal. Her door was always open for friends and family needing someone to talk to or even a place to stay. Even the occasional homeless animals knew where to find her. Her laughs, help, and smile will never be forgotten.

She is survived by her sons, Ross Paul Decoux and Joshua Paul Decoux and their father, Rodney Paul Decoux all of New Iberia; her parents, Lloyd “Bud” and Georgia Delcambre Viator, Jr. of New Iberia; three sisters, Vicki Decoux and spouse Geoffrey “Jeff” Decoux of New Iberia; Julie Viator and spouse Juanita Huval of Lafayette and Shawne V. Vidrine and spouse Chad Vidrine of Youngsville; one brother, Kyle Viator and spouse Cynthia “Cindy” Viator of New Iberia; nieces and nephews, Brooke Decoux, Brittany Decoux, Brandi Decoux, Hayley Pritchard, Jason Pouliot, Tiffany Menard, Jill Pouliot, Raven Breaux, Dodi Tran, Eddie Decoux, Jr., Chase Decoux and Rocky Decoux.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dewey and Stella Delcambre; paternal grandparents, Lloyd and Myrtle Viator, Sr.; In Laws, Geoffroy and Geraldine Decoux, Sr. and grandmother in law, Alice Bourgeois.

Pallbearers will be Ross Paul Decoux, Joshua Paul Decoux, Geoffroy “Jeff” Decoux, Tyler Picard, Abraham Hill Combest and Brandon Prados.

Honorary pallbearers will be Randy Delcambre, Webster Delcambre, Kyle Viator, Ernie Pouliot, Eddie Decoux and Chad Vidrine.
