Mr. Berzas showed much respect for families and the students in the community of Loreauville. I know he was dedicated to LHS from many conversations, planning, and concerns that we shared regarding the best for the students of the Loreauville community. He respected my views and suggestions that worked for our common interest---Loreauville High School.
He will be missed. I give my condolences to your fam

I have good memories of teaching at Jeanerette High School with Richard. He was a kind and friendly person who always had time for a friend or student. His wife and family were his pride and joy.

My sympathies to you & I am sad to hear about Coach Berzas' passing. I've always enjoyed keeping in touch with him over the years. His voice was always instantaly recognize when I'd pick up a call or call him. You likely remember we first had a student / athlete / coach / friend relationship at Jeanerette High school when he arrived on the scene. I learned much about my own self as a runner in high school. While my performances were not notable, the attitude of confidence and knowing that work had its own reward came with the encouragement and regular "push" from Coach. Those traits have served me for a lifetime and I still credit those times a one of the reasons for them. I'm sure your family will pull together and hold each other up - and also miss the persona of Coach.

I have many fond memories of practices, bus rides, track meets and just hanging out that make me grin. I'm sure you do also.
