Rita Moreaux Moreaux Thibodeaux

NEW IBERIA – a Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted for Mrs. Arthur Thibodeaux, Sr., the former Rita Moreaux, age 88, at 10:00 am Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. Garrett Savoie officiating.

Maria T. Miller and Jodi Thibodeaux will serve as gift bearers. Interment will follow at Holy Family Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday with a Rosary at 6:30 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Saturday until service time.

Mrs. Rita was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a zest for life and a spunky personality that leaves memories for her family to cherish. She loved to dance and play bouree’ and was known as “The Queen of Bingo” at Consolata. Mrs. Rita will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

A native of Jefferson Island and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Thibodeaux passed away at 8:48 am on, Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Consolata Nursing Home.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl T. Louviere and husband Terry; two sons, Art Thibodeaux, Jr. and wife Angela and Michael “Mike” Thibodeaux and wife Liz all of New Iberia; seven grandchildren, Maria T. Miller; Jodi Thibodeaux; Arthur Thibodeaux, III; Casey Thibodeaux; Mark Louviere; Chad Louviere and Jason Louviere; ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and one sister, Evelyn Girard of New Iberia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Thibodeaux, Sr.; parents, Albert and Rosa Bourque Moreaux; one grandson, Brandon Louviere; four sisters, Marie Dorsey; Rose Primeaux; Hilda Derouen and Hilda Mae Viator and four brothers, Rene, Ernest, Robert and Adam Moreaux.

Pallbearers will be Mark Louviere, Chad Louviere, Jason Louviere, Mark Louviere, Jr., Arthur Thibodeaux, III, Casey Thibodeaux and Dillan Louviere.

Memorial donations may be made in her name to Bridgeway Hospice, 2014 West Pinhook Road, Suite 604, Lafayette, LA 70508.

The family would like to thank all of the staff of Bridgeway Hospice, especially Heather Richard and all of the staff of Consolata Home, especially her caregiver, Pam Howard for all of the care and concern shown to Mrs. Rita.
