NEW IBERIA – Funeral Services will be conducted for Mr. Rodney Paul Comeaux, age 62, at 11:00 am on Monday, April 1, 2013 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. Gary Schexnailder will serve as the celebrant and Fr. Charles Langlois will serve as the concelebrant. Interment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Sunday with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Monday and remain open until service time.
A native and resident of New Iberia, Mr. Comeaux passed away at 11:30 pm on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Lafayette General Hospital.
Mr. Comeaux was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister and as a member of the Adoration Chapel Ministry. He also served his county in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Rodney was an Eagle Scout and also a member of Our Lady of the Oaks Men’s Retreat Group. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from U.S.L. and was the founder of C&S Safety Systems located in New Iberia. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, fishing, shrimping, camping, spending time outdoors and gardening. He especially loved all of his children and grandchildren and spending time with his family. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Bailey Comeaux of New Iberia; sons, Bryan Comeaux and wife Kelly of New Iberia, Dr. Blake Comeaux and wife Danielle of New Iberia; daughter, Leah Comeaux Reaux and husband Chuck of New Iberia; mother, Betty Comeaux of New Iberia; brothers, Donald Comeaux and wife Stephanie of New Iberia, Mike Comeaux of New Iberia; sisters, Cathy Koch of New Iberia, Dr. Mary Beth Winmill, of Abbeville, Louise Gaspard of Bayou Vista, Jane McCurley and husband Robert of New Iberia; grandchildren, Emmaline Reaux, Ella Comeaux, Caroline Comeaux, Carson Comeaux, Jase McCoy, Brandon Reaux, Ashley Camille; father-in-law, Raymond Bailey; mother-in-law, Emma Bailey, Godchildren, Dusti Louviere and Ethan Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Joseph Comeaux and grandson, Noah Alan Comeaux.
Pallbearers will be Chad Bailey, Bret Bailey, Benjamin Bailey, Nicholas Bailey, Mike Comeaux, Donald Comeaux, Byron Perry and Ryan Winmill.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Bailey, Malcolm Migues, Lonnie Myers, Frank LeDoux and Gerald Faulk.
