Coteau – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Rowena Fremin Comeaux at 11:00 am Friday, October 19, 2018 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Ed Degeyter will be the celebrant. Mrs. Comeaux will be laid to rest with her husband at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Thursday from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Rosary being prayed at 6:30 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Friday from 8:00 am until time of services.
Rowena was born October 15, 1931 in Iberia Parish to the late Aladin Fremin and the late Electa Girouard Fremin, and passed away October 17, 2018, just 2 days after her 87th birthday.
Rowena was retired from Hamilton Medical Group as a receptionist and previously worked with both Tibby Rouse and Sears. She has been a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Choir and the Ladies Alter Society, and taught Catechism. In her retirement years, she enjoyed having coffee and visiting with friends, reading and solving crossword puzzles, and gardening. Above all, she was most dedicated to the love and care of her family, and will be missed dearly.
Survivors include her son Tim Comeaux and his wife Jodie Robichaux Comeaux; her granddaughters, Heidi Comeaux Dueitt and Holli Rene Comeaux; her great grandson, Jude Dueitt; her brother, Leo Fremin and wife Flo; her sister, Verna F. Morvant; her sister-in-law, Georgia LeBlanc Fremin; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eraste P. Comeaux; two brothers, Curley Fremin and wife Lillian Fremin and Nolan Fremin; two sisters, Mazie F. Myers and husband Curtis Myers, Leona F. Moore and husband J.C. Moore; a brother-in-law, Wylie J. Morvant; and her in-laws, Fucien and Paula Reaux Comeaux.
Serving as pallbearers are Courtney Fremin, Kyle Fremin, Kevin Moore, Bryan Morvant, Curt Myers, Ricky Myers and Troy Myers.
