Shirley Dutreix Blenderman, born on December 7, 1934, in Edgard, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025, at the age of 90. A longtime resident of New Iberia, Shirley lived a full and spirited life marked by warmth, independence, and a deep love for her family.
Shirley was, in her own charming way, a professional shopper—she cherished the simple joy of browsing store aisles with her closest friends, collecting memories as much as treasures. She also found happiness in her flower beds and garden, tending to each bloom with the same care and pride she carried throughout her life. Shirley was a woman who knew exactly what she wanted and never compromised on her standards; her strength of will and sense of self were as much a part of her legacy as her laughter and generosity.
Above all, Shirley adored her family.
She leaves behind her daughters, Debbie Hebert, Barbara Romero, and Wendy Arcement; her brothers, Ronald Dutreix (Sylvia), Harold Dutreix (Gerry), Conley Dutreix (Jessie), and Chris Dutreix (Sandra); her grandchildren, Cy Arcement, Amber Broussard, Nicholas Romero, and Forrest Hebert; and her great-grandchildren, Aubrey Arcement, Xander Arcement, Kasyn Broussard, Jaxon Broussard, and Isabelle Romero. Each of them carries a piece of her strength, her wit, and her unwavering love.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Ronald “Jack” John Blenderman, Jr.; her former husband, Anthony Rizzuto; her father, Harold Dutreix Sr.; and her mother, Isabelle Amedee Dutreix.
Visitation will be held on December 4, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited from 2:30 p.m. ., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 p.m. Fr. Keith Landry will officiate.
