Ms. Thelma Barras Barras Dugas

NEW IBERIA - Funeral Services will be celebrated for Mrs. Harold Dugas, the former Thelma Barras, age 87, at 10:00 am on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Fr. Ed Degeyter officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Mausoleum.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Evangeline Funeral Home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Thursday with a rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. The funeral home will re-open on Friday at 8:00 am until the service time.

A native of Parks and resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Dugas passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at Iberia Extended Care Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 2, 1929 to the late Arstille and Regina Huval Barras, Thelma was one of three children. Thelma was a loving wife to her husband of 68 years, Harold Dugas. She loved spending time with him. They would take weekly trips to the Acadiana Mall to walk around and talk with other couples. She also enjoyed going out to eat at her favorite restaurants, Ryans, on Fridays and visiting with her daughter, Loretta, on Sundays. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend she will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Loretta D. Romero and husband Howard, Jr. of Coteau; grandchildren, Katie Botts and husband Brandon, Jake Romero and wife Heather, and Kerrie Romero and signifigant other Nick Buteaux; and great grandchildren, Jordan Botts, Kylie Romero, Noah Botts, Railey Jenkins, Jacob Romero, Emily Romero, Talan Jenkins, and Lilly Jenkins.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 68 years, Harold Dugas; parents, Arstille and Regina Huval Barras; brother, Clifton Barras; and sister, Lizzie Dore.

Pallbearers will be Noah Botts, Jake Romero, Ryan Ronsonet, Brandon Broussard, Doug Romero, Jacob Romero, and Talon Jenkins.
