

METAIRIE-Thomas George Moskal Jr., a resident of Lafayette for the past six years, passed away Dec. 30 after a battle with cancer. He was 87 years old. Moskal was born Nov. 28, 1926, in New York City to Polish immigrants Stanislava Zwiercan and Thomas G. Moskal, but grew up in Rockland County, N.Y. He served in the Army Air Cadets during World War II, then graduated Georgia Tech in 1949 with an electrical engineering degree, followed by a masters in 1950 with a fellowship from Westinghouse. He joined Westinghouse in 1951 and served in a variety of management positions throughout the southeast U.S. including New Orleans, Mississippi and Florida. Moskal joined Armor Elevator Company in 1970 and later became a consultant and expert witness in personal injury litigation. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, LilyB Staehling Moskal of New Orleans, and his children Roxane Berglund of Cary, N.C.; Thomas Stewart Moskal of Coral Springs, Fla.; and stepchildren Paul Dastugue III of Metairie; Quentin Dastugue of Covington; Danon Dastugue of Chicago and Cheré Dastugue Coen of Lafayette, plus numerous grandchildren and greatchildren. He is preceded in death by his son Nelson Moskal. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories in Metairie. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to SouthernCare Hospice of Lafayette.
