It is with heavy hearts and deep love that the Hulin family announces the passing of Timothy P. “Tim” Hulin, Sr., a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend to many. Tim passed away Saturday, October 17, 2026, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center. He was 66.
Tim was born June 9, 1960, in Lafayette to the late Paul Hulin and Vernaq Mae Racca Hulin and was raised in New Iberia.
Tim enjoyed a long and dedicated career with Hi-Tech Tubular Service in New Iberia, where he worked for 24 years. As one of the company's original employees from its beginning, he played an important role in its growth and success. Throughout his career, he advanced through the ranks, serving as a Drill Pipe Inspector and Equipment Technician. Along the way, he formed many meaningful friendships with his coworkers that he treasured through the years.
Outside of work, Tim enjoyed a simple yet fulfilling life. He could often be found working on projects around his home, listening to his favorite music, and enjoying an ice-cold beer. A devoted New Orleans Saints fan, he also enjoyed watching his beloved team whenever he had the opportunity.
Above all, Tim's greatest joy was his family. He loved them deeply, and that love was returned in countless ways. His presence brought comfort and familiarity to those closest to him, and the memories they shared will remain a lasting source of love and strength.
Though his passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, his memory will live on through the family he cherished and the many lives he touched.
Tim, may your soul, and the souls of all the faithfully departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend of 27 years, Elisa R. “Alice” Hulin; his children, Timothy P. Hulin, Jr., Deborah Menchaca (Kurt), Elizabeth Peoples (Gerald), Joe Bernal (Ninfa), Jerry Bernal (Bena), and Jason Bernal (Janice); a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his brother, Michael Hulin.
Tim is reunited in heaven with his parents, Paul Hulin and Verna Mae Racca Hulin; his brother, Raywood Maturin; and his dear friend, Johnny Romero, who was like a father to him.
Funeral services celebrating Tim's life will be held 6:30 pm Thursday, October 29, 2026, at Evangeline Funeral Home. Msgr Jefferson DeBlanc will officiate. Tim will be laid to rest privately at a later date.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. until the time of services, with visitation continuing until 8:00 p.m.
