It is with heavy hearts and deep love that the D’Albor family announces the passing of Todd Anthony D’Albor, a man of deep faith and a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and servant of his community. Todd passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, gently closing his eyes to this earthly life and entering into his eternal glory. He was 56.
Todd was born on August 14, 1969, to Patricia Ann Duplantis D’Albor and the late Leon John D’Albor, and was raised in a family rich in Cajun heritage. From a very early age, he was instilled with the values of faith, kindness, and service to others—principles that guided him throughout his life. He attended school in St. Martinville and graduated from St. Martinville High School in 1987. He briefly attended USL before answering his calling to a career in law enforcement.
Todd’s distinguished career spanned more than 35 years, during which he served with dedication and integrity across multiple agencies. He began with the St. Martinville Police Department under Jerry Curry, driven by a deep desire to protect and serve his hometown. After a period with the Jeff Davis Sheriff’s Department, he returned to St. Martinville, where he was selected to attend the FBI National Academy, Class of 1999—an honor reserved for the top 2% of law enforcement professionals nationwide.
He later served as a Captain with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Department under Sheriff Sid Hebert, but his heart remained tied to St. Martinville, where he returned as Chief Administrative Officer. In 2010, Todd was appointed Chief of Police of the Jennings Police Department. Under his leadership, crime dropped dramatically within months, ultimately reaching a zero murder rate and earning Jennings recognition as one of the Top 3 Safest Cities in 2011.
In December 2017, Todd was appointed by Mayor Freddy DeCourt as Chief of Police of the New Iberia Police Department. Tasked with rebuilding the department from the ground up, he led with strength, trust, and vision, restoring the force and ensuring the safety of the community. This achievement remained one of the proudest moments of his career.
Among his many accomplishments, Todd was instrumental in narcotics enforcement efforts through “Spiderweb” operations in St. Martinville and New Iberia, bringing over 100 cases with indictments in just eight and a half months. He also assisted in numerous federal indictments in Iberia Parish. Despite these achievements, what mattered most to him were the relationships and friendships he built along the way.
Outside of his profession, Todd’s life was rooted in faith and family. He placed God first in all things and devoted himself wholeheartedly to those he loved. He cherished time at home, enjoyed LSU sports, and dedicated 24 years to coaching Little League, PeeWee football, and basketball. He truly had a servant’s heart.
Todd never wavered in his faith. He lived openly as a Christian, guided by the Word of God in both his personal life and his service to others. When asked what he was most proud of, his answer was unwavering: “My heart is very clear. It has nothing to do with anything work related. My greatest achievement is that I brought my family into a greater relationship with Jesus. There is no greater achievement.”
While his presence will be deeply missed, his family finds comfort in the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion in God’s Kingdom.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 29 years, Melinda Haney D’Albor; his children, Morgan Lancon Delcambre (Ren), Broc Anthony D’Albor, and John William D’Albor; his grandchildren, Madison Delcambre, Carsen Lancon, Landen Delcambre, and Jameson Delcambre; his mother, Patricia Ann Duplantis D’Albor; his brother, Troy D’Albor (Cheryl); his sister, Joy Maturin (Norris) his in-laws, Phil Haney (Renee) and Byron Haney; and his close and dear friends, Freddie DeCourt, Brandon Williams, Adelia Mercier, Seth Pellerin, Gus Westcott and Gary Westcott.
He is reunited in Heaven with his father, Leon John D’Albor, Jr.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Todd’s life will be held Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 1:00 pm at Nativity of Our Lady Catholic Church with Fr. Mario Romero as celebrant. Following the mass, the New Iberia Police Department will render full law enforcement honors.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm with the Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Thursday from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm dismissal to church.
The New Iberia Police Department Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are John D’Albor, Broc D’Albor, Landen Delcambre, Carsen Lancon, Phil Haney, Brandon Williams, Freddie DeCourt, Seth Pellerin and Gus Westcott.
