A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Mrs. Robicheaux passed away peacefully at 3:15 am on Sunday, October 17, 2010 at New Iberia Manor North.
Mrs. Robicheaux was born June 20, 1925 to Dominic and Olina Menard. Many will remember her from the 14 years she worked as a cook at Catholic High School in New Iberia. She has been a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, where she was a member of the St. Ann Altar Society, and was also a member of the Golden Age Club of New Iberia, serving as past queen.
She enjoyed many things in life. One being a love of Cajun French music and dancing, and the other as New Iberia’s most faithful Atlanta Braves Fan. But it was the love for her family that was most important to her. Above all, she was a homemaker who adored the time spent with her family. Many Sunday meals were prepared with love, and were enjoyed as the whole family would get together. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great and great great grandmother, sister and friend and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Dalton Robicheaux of New Iberia; her children, Jimmy Robicheaux and wife Sally of New Iberia, Delores Hotard and husband Stoney of Lydia, Harold Robicheaux and wife Brenda of New Iberia, and Charlene LeBlanc and husband Timmy of Lafayette; 11 grandchildren, Craig Robicheaux, Tammy Morvant, Tina Perez, Cassie Primeaux, Chad Robicheaux, Shanon Hebert, Todd Hotard, Christi Derouen, Scotty LeBlanc, Danielle Robicheaux and Sheree Sellers; 32 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren with 2 expected soon; and her brother, Presley “Tibby” Menard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dominic and Olina Duhon Menard; her grandson, Shawn Robicheaux; great granddaughter, Holli Robicheaux; and her sister and brothers, Lillian Bonin, Cleveland Menard, LeRoy Menard, and Dorris “Te-Neg” Menard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Harold Robicheaux, Timmy LeBlanc, Craig Robicheaux, Chad Robicheaux, Todd Hotard and Scotty LeBlanc.
Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters, Tammy, Tina, Cassie, Shanon, Christi, Danielle and Sheree.
