

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Wade F. Barras, 68, at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Barry Crochet, Pastor of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home on Monday from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, with the Men’s Rosary Group leading the Rosary at 7:00 pm. Visiting hours will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
Mr. Barras was born March 12, 1947 in Vermilion Parish to the late Sidney Joseph Barras and Lorena Reaux Barras and was one of 11 children. On Thursday, April 23, 2015, Wade passed away peacefully at his residence, with his family at his side.
Wade was retired from Texaco with over 30 years of dedicated service. He was a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church and had a passion for College sports, especially his LSU Tigers and UL Ragin Cajuns. “Boo” as he was known by family had a generous heart and was kind and helpful to anyone in need. But his greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind many fond memories and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Gloria Dubois Barras; his sons, Daniel Barras and Casey Barras and his wife Angela; and his grandchildren, Kandyl Barras, Kameyn Barras, Grace Barras, Lillian Barras all of New Iberia and Ava Booth of Denham Springs. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Elina East of New Iberia, Ullis A. Barras of Abbeville, Isabelle “Sue” Credeur of New Iberia, Mary Lebouef of Abbeville, Alberta Dore of Parks, Roland Barras of New Iberia, Phillip Barras of New Iberia, and Mona Leleux of New Iberia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, John “L.B.” Barras, and Paul “P.D.” Barras.
Pallbearers are Daniel and Casey Barras, Dwayne Delahoussaye, his Godsons, Rick Leleux and Orrin East, and Chuck Barras. Honorary pallbearers are Kameyn Barras, Colby Delahoussaye, Steven Barras and Brock Barras.
