Willie Mae Meyers Romero

Funeral services will be conducted for Mrs. Whiley Paul Romero, the former Willie Mae Meyers, age 81, at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Evangeline Funeral Home with Deacon Theo Landry officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.

A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday from 8:00 am until the service time with a Rosary being recited at 11:00 am by the Men’s Rosary Group.

A native of Kaplan and resident of Broussard, Mrs. Romero passed away at 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at her residence.

Born on March 5, 1936 to the late Noah and Alice Hebert Meyers, Willie Mae was one of three children. She was a kind and caring woman who enjoyed every moment spent with family and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards. While she was still able, Willie Mae would get together with her friends every Wednesday and play cards. Her favorite games were bourrée and pokeno. Willie Mae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Romero is survived by her loving children, Terry Romero and wife Lisa of Broussard, Vickie Romero and husband Glen of Broussard, and Carl Romero; sister, Estelle Gaspard of New Iberia; twelve grandchildren; and many great grandchildren.

Mrs. Romero is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Whiley Romero; parents, Noah and Alice Hebert Romero; and brother, Harry Meyers.

Pallbearers will be Chad Maturin, Cain Maturin, Joshua Romero, Ridge Boudreaux Jason Boudreaux and Glen Romero. Honorary Pallbearers will be Kai Guidroz and Hudson Boudreaux.
