

Carlos Romero passed away suddenly on August 1, 2026 from a massive stroke at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, RI. Born in San Diego, CA November 13,1949, Carlos was a classical violinist for over 65 years. He graduated from California State at Northridge and studied with Manuel Compinski of the Compinski Trio and Andre Granet Assistant Concertmaster Cleveland Orchestra and the Violin Institute His violin was the basis of his life and the many orchestras he was fortunate to be a part of. Residing in Westerly, RI, Carlos was also an excellent Luthier, knowledgeable in repairing, rehairing and restoring all string instrument bows for over 25 years as RomeroBows. He was a humble man, who never thought he was so talented. Carlos leaves his wife of 25 years, Joanne Gober Romero.
Calling hours will be Monday, Aug. 10, 2026, from 5-7pm and Tuesday August 11th from 9:30am-10am at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2026 at Noon at St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 864 Point Judith Rd., Narragansett, RI with internment in St. Francis Cemetery, South Kingstown, RI. In lieu of flowers, a donation to gofund.me/108feb013 was established for his wife to pay medical and funeral expenses and help with living costs will be deeply appreciated.
