

He was born in New London on Jan. 23, 1941, the son of the late Frederick and Viola (Bedard) Green. He attended New London schools.
He married Beverly Ryley Knapp in May 1960. He later married Sandra Kenny.
Charles worked at New London mills, for the City of New London, and was a local roofer for many years before his courageous battle with lung cancer and kidney disease.
He is survived by his children, Debbie Contillo and her husband, John, of Quaker Hill, Terri Bedard and her husband, Robert, of Montville, Charles Green Jr. and his wife, Phyllis, of Groton, Richard Green and Garen Kenny, both of New London; his brothers, Frederick Green of Voluntown, Richard Green and his wife, Karen, of Niantic; his sister, Beverly Goebel and her husband, George, of Virginia; a brother-in-law, Carl Pignone and his wife, Judy; his special friend, Julie Vince and her son, Joel; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Christopher Green; a sister, Patti Hunt; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Green.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London. Burial will be private.
