She was born in Alabama March 29, 1934 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Gray. A life-long resident of New London, she was a member of Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church 16 Belden Street, New London, CT. There she was a member of the Home Missions Board and WH&OM Missionary Society as well as the Carlene Lee Senior Choir.
Surviving are sons James Gray of Plainfield and Robert Alexander, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; a devoted daughter-in-law Marie Gray of Plainfield; brother Eugene of Texas; sisters Annie Mae of Washington, D.C., Mary of North Carolina; Patricia and Lisa Mae of Alabama. Her grandchildren: Terrell, Dianti, Jessica, Ebony, James-e, Alexis, Cassandra and Tiana;
Great-grandchildren: Ayded, Praise and Penelope. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters Elizabeth and Leslie.
Ruth, as she is sometimes called also leaves other family members and a host of friends who remember her fondly.
Her favorite words were “Thank You, Jesus!”
