Collie Ruth Alexander, 83, exchanged time for eternity at Colonial Health and Rehab, Plainfield, CT Wednesday, March 14, 2018.
She was born in Alabama March 29, 1934 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Gray. A life-long resident of New London, she was a member of Walls Temple A.M.E. Zion Church 16 Belden Street, New London, CT. There she was a member of the Home Missions Board and WH&OM Missionary Society as well as the Carlene Lee Senior Choir.
Surviving are sons James Gray of Plainfield and Robert Alexander, Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida; a devoted daughter-in-law Marie Gray of Plainfield; brother Eugene of Texas; sisters Annie Mae of Washington, D.C., Mary of North Carolina; Patricia and Lisa Mae of Alabama. Her grandchildren: Terrell, Dianti, Jessica, Ebony, James-e, Alexis, Cassandra and Tiana; Great-grandchildren: Ayded, Praise and Penelope. She was predeceased by her parents and two sisters Elizabeth and Leslie.
Ruth, as she is sometimes called also leaves other family members and a host of friends who remember her fondly.
Her favorite words were “Thank You, Jesus!”
