

He was born on June 21, 1926, in Perham, ME, the son of Lawrence Conroy and Ruth Turner Conroy. After graduating from Caribou High School in 1943, he joined the Army and served in the 63rd Blood & Fire Infantry Division in Belgium and Germany. He was awarded two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, two Battle Stars, the European Campaign Ribbon, WWII Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Army of Occupation Medal and the Presidential Unit Citation Medal. Later he served in the 6841st Special Service Depot Company in Germany.
He retired from Heublein, Inc. of Hartford in 1986, where he was the Transportation Manager. He was a member of the First Church of Christ in Manchester.
Patriotism was his way of life. Upon discharge he joined the VFW in 1946 and remained a member for the duration of his life. He served as Post Commander of 10251 in South Windsor for 30 years.
He is survived by his daughter Colleen Conroy Toscano and Raymond Genereux of Gales Ferry, his son, Michael Conroy and wife, Marilyn, of Fishers Island, NY; three grandchildren Katie, Brendon and William; a great granddaughter, Charlotte “Charlie”. A sister, Charlene Clark and her husband, Robert of South Carolina, a brother Donald Conroy and his wife, Hope, of California and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Jacqueline Chabot Conroy and his brother, Graydon Conroy.

A memorial service will be held on Friday November 2,, 2012 at 1pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 181 Ocean Ave., New London, CT.
