Evelyn was born on September 30, 1920 in Malone, NY, the daughter of Edward L. and Sadie Frechette Delisle. After graduating from Franklin Academy in Malone and completing post-graduate business studies, she left home to join in the War effort by working as Executive Secretary to the Vice President of the Auditing Department at the General Electric Company in Schenectady, NY. In Schenectady, she later met and married her husband Dick, a GE engineer and veteran of the US Navy Submarine Service who had served in the South Pacific.
Evelyn and Dick's 61 years of marriage were filled with joy and marked by great love for each other and their family. Their mutual devotion was manifested most completely by Evelyn's loving management of Dick's home care during the last eight years of his life following his stroke in 2000.
Throughout her life, Evelyn devoted enormous energy and intelligence to the care and nurturing of her family. She enjoyed attending the many musical and sporting activities of her grandchildren, and was especially proud of the educations they all successfully pursued. Her children and grandchildren will forever be grateful to her for all she did to help them realize their personal and professional goals.
Evelyn truly enjoyed life in many ways, and often spoke with special fondness of her wonderful friends and acquaintances, her travels to Europe and the Western US, and the time she spent with friends and family at the Lapland Lake Cross Country Ski Resort.
