

Germaine Rita Terry (nee’ Fowler), affectionately known as “Mam”, passed away on September 11, 2024 at the age of 82 in Bozrah, Connecticut. She was born on December 23, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, to Rita and Francis Fowler.
Germaine married Donald Francis Terry on January 2, 1960 in her hometown of Highland Falls, New York. They were married nearly 63 years, of which, 20 years were spent in support of her husband's military service. Germaine moved her family numerous times across the country while raising 4 children, before settling in New London County.
As the children grew older, she worked numerous jobs, ultimately retiring from Electric Boat. After her retirement, Germaine spent much of her time watching her grandchildren. She was a passionate reader and crafter. She loved learning and traveling. Germaine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Donald F. Terry, Jr. (Rebecca) of Norwich, Jeananne Campbell (Brian) of Preston, Daniel S. Terry (Cindy) of Waterford, and Julianne T. Wheeler (Jay) of New London; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, two nephews and one niece. Germaine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Donald, her parents Rita and Francis Fowler, her brother Francis Fowler, Jr., her nephew Francis Fowler III, her granddaughter Devon Allard, and her sister-in-law Catherine Davis Fowler.
A devout member of the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, in Norwich, Connecticut, Germaine's faith played a significant role in her life. A funeral mass will be held to celebrate her life at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral on September 26, 2024 at 10:00 am. A private burial will follow. Arrangements are under the care of Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home of New London, Connecticut. Germaine's legacy of love, resilience, and generosity will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
