Helen Vel Garbati of Uncasville CT. passed away at the age of 76, the morning of February 3rd with her loving husband, Bill Garbati by her side supported by their grandson Ryan Godfrey. All the family was able to see her the evening prior and share their love for her before she passed.
Helen was an incredible wife, mother, grandmother and friend who touched so many lives with her passion for living. She taught her kids to be resilient and to “Go for It!” and when you hurt, she hurt. Helen and Bill had a wonderful life together during their marriage of 57 years including their love for travel and camping.
A very successful business woman she was. At the peak of her career, she ran the East Coast sales region for Personal Preference Inc. and was a motivational speaker. Her work enriched the lives of the many sales associates she trained and supported who were able to succeed and give their families a better life. She also earned so many wonderful incentive trips which fueled her passion for travel.
When many might have chosen retirement, Helen dove back into real estate with William Ravis where she was a top performer exceeding many personal goals which was an inspiration to her children. Helen was the life of the party and loved music and dancing and spending time with friends and family especially at their summer hangout at Indian field Campground in Salem. She was the glue that always held the family together and the pied piper of the pack who made all Holidays and Birthdays special.
She is survived by her husband Bill Garbati, their three children Bill Garbati and his wife Lillian, Tom Garbati and his wife Dennaye, Diane Godfrey and her husband Aaron and four grandchildren, Nicole and Trent Garbati, Tommy Garbati and Ryan Godfrey. Her parents were George and Veronica Borkowski with a sister and 3 nephews.
We know she is now at peace with God and we look forward to the day we are all together again!
Luke 23:43 – And Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.”
There will be private service for immediate family only as she did not want us to mourn over her but wanted to celebrate her life which we did when many friends and family gathered for her 75th birthday just before she went to be cared for by the incredible, loving and wonderful staff at Harbor Village to which the family is grateful.
