

She was the daughter of Thomas and Una Patton of Shapely Street in New London.
She was a native of New London County for 70 years and Graduate of New London Academy of Cosmetology. She is predeceased by her husband Melvin N. Spence USN CPO, and son Walter O Spence; brothers Philip, Dudley, and Thomas Patton; and sisters Joan Hall, and Diane Frazier.
She is survived by Melvin and Donna Spence of McAllen, Texas, and Timothy P. Spence of Mystic CT; sister Gertrude Pollard of New London, brother William Patton of New York; grandchildren Melissa Bezanson of Salem CT, Christopher Spence of Meridan, CT, and Amanda Fudge of Middletown CT; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored.
Affectionately called “Honey” by her family and known by “Daisy” in Texas, she passed with her faithful dog “Bella” at her side. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic church of Noank Connecticut. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, and having a laugh with family and friends around her kitchen table. In recent years calls and visits from the family were very special to her.
